Behaviour and Activity
Peppermint Bristlenose Catfish are primarily nocturnal and become most active during the evening and overnight. They use their sucker-shaped mouths to attach themselves to glass, driftwood, rocks, and other surfaces while grazing.

During the day, they commonly rest inside caves, beneath driftwood, or in other shaded areas. Mature males may establish and defend a preferred cave, particularly when breeding.

Special Requirements or Considerations
Provide caves, hollow décor, driftwood, and other shaded areas where the catfish can retreat during daylight hours. Driftwood is particularly useful as part of their natural environment.

While they are effective algae grazers, algae growing naturally in the aquarium should not be considered their complete diet. Regular supplementary feeding is essential, particularly in clean or mature aquariums with limited algae growth.

Ensure sinking foods reach the bottom of the aquarium and that faster-moving tank mates do not consume everything before the catfish has an opportunity to feed.
